Dried Orange Peels refer to peels of citric orange fruits grown in southern China. The health benefits of the peels have been well-known in Traditional Chinese Medicine for decades. Orange zest is often used to enhance other flavors in desserts, gravies, and even some meat dishes. Dried orange peels can also be sprinkled as a garnish. Orange peels can be used to make delicious homemade oils, etc.
Our Dried Orange Peels are processed in the traditional methods as follows:
1)Selection of raw materials: Select fresh high quality yellow oranges. Cut the oranges into three or four parts, strip the peels for use.
2)Blank making: Use a special planer to scrape the superficial skin of the orange peels.
3)Macerating: Put a 100kgs of orange peels into a macerating container, adding 50 liters of plum bittern and 0.5 kilos of alum. After 48 hours take out the peels, and dip them in boiling water for blanching for 2 minutes. After that, put them in water for rinsing for 24 hours. And then drain water from the peels. Later macerate the peels with 50% salt water and 30% plum bittern for 20 days. Then take the peels out and drained the water. Here we got the rough Dried Orange Peels.
4)Juice extracting: Put Licorice Roots in water and boil it to make concentrated juice adding some sugar for later use.
5)Licorice macerating and drying: Put rough Dried Orange Peels in a container adding some Licorice juice and cover the container for 2 hours. Then take out the orange peels and take along with some licorice juice. Put the orange peels in drying machine. When the peels have been dried, spray the Licorice juice on the peels and dry again. Repeat this step for several times. When the last time drying has been finished, spray dried Licorice powder on the peels and stir thoroughly. The proportion of licorice powder is 1%. Eventually here we've got well processed Dried Orange Peels.
